Marine Life Center

Bellingham, Washington

1801 Roeder Ave

The Marine Life Center is a facility on the Bellingham waterfront that features about a half dozen small tanks and aquariums filled with creatures common to Puget Sound. If you're lucky, they'll include a small Giant Pacific Octopus - they had two on temporary display during my visit.

In addition to the Giant Pacific Octopus, you're likely to find anemones, starfish, crabs, sea urchins, prawns, flounders and a variety of other creatures in the tanks, including a touch-tank.

It is a small, somewhat cramped facility, but it's worth a quick stop - especially for the kids - to get an up-close introduction to some of the local sea life.

Sea Anemone (C14A0046)
When you find a sea anemone, look around for starfish. After all, starfish live by that old adage, "Keep your friends close and your anemones closer."
