Portland Superior Cement Silos
HWy 20 @ N Superior Ave
The town of Concrete was the result of the 1909 merger of the towns of Baker, home to a Superior Portland Cement Company plant, and Cement City, home to the Washington Portland Cement Company.
The surviving Portland Superior Cement silos became the town's welcome sign for people traveling along Highway 20 when "Welcome to Concrete" was painted on them for the filming of the movie "This Boy's Life".
