Fremont Troll Sculpture
N 36th St @ Troll Ave N (seriously!)
A giant troll lives under the north end of the Aurora Avenue bridge in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood. The troll has a hubcap for an eye and clutches a real Volkswagen Beetle in its hand.
The troll is the creation of artists Steve Badanes, Will Martin, Donna Walter and Ross Whitehead. The troll is 18 feet tall and was made from steel rebar, wire and concrete in 1990.
The Fremont Troll (Z07A0002)
The troll hangs out underneath the Aurora Avenue Bridge.
Troll Avenue Sign (Z11A0022)
In 2005 a stretch of Aurora Avenue North was renamed Troll Avenue in order to honor the sculpture and to eliminate confusion with this street and the Aurora Avenue Bridge overhead.
