The Trans-Canada Highway is a 4,990-mile-long trans-continental highway that starts in Victoria and passes through all 10 Canadian provinces, ending at St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador on the Atlantic Coast.
A sign marks its Victoria starting point where Douglas Street meets Dallas Road. On Vancouver Island, the highway heads north through the heart of Victoria following Douglas Street and then various roads for 69 miles until it reaches Nanaimo. From Nanaimo the Trans-Canada Highway continues via ferry to the Canadian mainland just north of Vancouver.
